Rain was the enemy at both Jerez and Portimao as the BMW team concluded a 2-day testing programme. Not much useful track time was had and even though the teams issued very positive Press Releases, the fact is that it was probably a lot of money spent for little return.
On the other side of the planet, the Aprilia and Yamaha teams concluded a 3 day programme at Phillip Island yesterday, enjoying perfect conditions for nearly the whole test. World Champion, Max Biaggi, was fastest until nearly the end when Eugene Laverty went out on a soft “qualifier” and went half a second quicker.

In stuff closer to home, I’m enjoying having the plaster cast off my arm, though the wrist feels very “dead” and I have to do lots of exercises to get it working properly again. It’s nice to be able to type two-handed. The “range of movement” cast is definitely more comfortable than the old splint and has already allowed me to start bending the knee. Amazingly, the swelling in the knee has dramatically reduced in the last couple of days. I won’t say it’s the same size as the left knee yet, but it’s heading that way. It is a bit disconcerting, though, to see the heads of two screws just lurking under the skin..yeww.
Purchase details of the Calibra are complete and I am expecting to hear from the carrier today that he has picked the car up from the previous owner’s place in Nerang and is heading south to Wollongong. To say that I’m excited is an understatement. (even though I won’t be able to drive it for some time).
