Victory for Toni Elias in last Sunday’s Czech Republic Moto2 race at Brno marked the 100th podium, in all classes, for Team Gresini.
Team Gresini, which is headed by double 125cc world champion Fausto Gresini, joined the world championship in 1997 and has since entered 249 grands prix, meaning a podium average of 40%.
The late Daijiro Kato and former MotoGP title runner-up Sete Gibernau were the main contributors with 24 each, including 15 wins for the Japanese (in 250cc) and eight for the Spaniard (in MotoGP).
Other riders to have contributed are Alex Barros, who scored the team’s first podium on the twin-cylinder 500cc Honda in 1997, plus Loris Capirossi, Emilio Alzamora, Roby Rolfo, Marco Melandri and Alex De Angelis.
“It is a memorable day because to score our 100th podium with a victory is extra special. The fact we extended our lead in the Moto2 championship makes it even better,” said Fausto Gresini.
