This weekend the World Superbike circus heads to the newly-renovated Silverstone circuit. MotoGP has already visited this year and the riders were generally complimentary of the new layout. I can’t say that I was impressed about the flat layout, especially compared to the swooping layout of Doningtion and its iconic rise and fall.
Here is the official WSBK web site preview of the meeting.
This is Round 10 of 13 rounds so Max Biaggi is definitely on a roll. He has won half of the races on offer this year so far and will take a power of stopping.
Here’s the championship standings.
Biaggi 352
Haslam 284
Rea 203
Checa 189
Haga 172
Toseland 160
Corser 149
Fabrizio 147
Camier 138
Crutchlow 138
50 points are on offer this weekend and the Ducati “works” team is definitely out of it, you’d think.
In WSS, the arm wrestle is much tighter.
Kenan Sofoglu has taken the initiative away from the early season leader, Eugene Laverty, leading with 183 points ahead of Kawasaki’s Joan Lascorz on 168 and Laverty on 161. Supersports only get one race on the weekend, so Sofoglu’s lead, while comfortable, is not insurmountable.
Live telecast on 502 from 2030. Incidentally, if you’re interested, at 1930 there is a telecast of the World Speedway Championships on the same channel.

Haslam started the season really well with a few wins then faded a bit ,i thought he was the one to beat but no.
Max is doing what Spies did last year so maybe he will go back to Motogp [unlikely but you never know]
Would be great though to have Max back in the Gp’s he would stir them up a bit especially Rossi.
Phil Hall says
Haslam is suffering from the fact that his team is a “works supported” team rather than a full “works” one. As such, lack of ongoing development is hurting them. Max is a cagy veteran and already has four fingers wrapped around the trophy. I can’t see him letting go. He has also expressed ZERO interest in returning to MotoGP.
