Everybody dreams about it but it rarely happens. Today I read about this one, one that I would dearly love to add to my collection. An original 1978 Honda Gold Wing 1100 with only 51 miles on the clock.
In 1975, I was teaching here in Wollongong and a parent of one of my students bought one of the first Gold Wings in town. Unlike this one it was yellow, a colour that I always reckoned looked great on this model. Despite being firecely protective of his bikes (and who can blame him) he offered me a ride and it is a stand-out memory from my early riding days. The bike was turbine-smooth and silent. After the agricultural stuff that I had ridden/was riding, it was like stepping up from a Mini to a Rolls Royce. I’d have one in a heartbeat.
Like this.
Actually, I don’t think that’s quite right. The story says that it’s a 1978 model, but, by 1978 they had Comstar wheels. I’m more inclined to put the blue bike’s date at 1975.

Never owned one but have ridden a few early ones, your absolutely correct they have the smoothest quiet motor you could come across.
They were quite fast in the day too & very comfortable.
Very nice bikes.

Oh yeah. And compared to the little 350/4 that I was riding at the time, it seemed like it had enough power to move the earth.
