I’m not talking about the exhaust manufacturer here (note the lack of the capital in the second word). No, I’m talking about the Cudlin brothers. Two young blokes from Troy Bayliss’s home town of Taree on the NSW mid-north coast and two young blokes who are making their mark overseas. Damian (remember him?)
and his younger brother, Alex,
are presently both racing in the World Endurance Championships, Damain in the Open class and Alex in the Superstock 1000 class. At yesterday’s Round 2 of the championship at Spain’s Albacete circuit, Damian put the bike on pole and Alex qualified 1st in Superstock and 3rd overall in Superbike. Not so lucky in the race, however, Alex’s bike had an early accident while his teammate was riding and lost 9 laps. They fought back from last position to finish 6th (albeit 2 laps down on the leaders). Damian had an even worse run, crashing on someone else’s oil (along with 15 other riders) before fighting back to finish 7th. The Yamaha Austria Team won the event, Aussie Steve Martin (BBC commentator on the WSBK telecasts) being one of the winning riders.
The two boys finished 4th in last year’s Six Hour race at Oran Park.
And here they are with their race faces on.
You can follow Damian on his Facebook page.

Two more great Aussie exports. 🙂
STOP PRESS: Alex’s team is leading the championship by 17 points. If they win the Bol d ‘Or, they will clinch the championship in the Superstock 1000 class.

Yep great riders the Cudlin brothers ,Australia does have & have had some talented dudes.
I still remember a young Mat Maladin riding a stock RGV 250 in the production races easily winning then being accused of having a modified bike.So he borrowed a competitors stock 250 & did the same times, that shut em up real quick.
Loads of Aussie riders do well in all classes of motorcycle racing & its great the Cudlin boys are keeping the tradition alive.
It’s just a pity the Aussie press is only interested in Cricket & Rugby league/Union & horse racing ,motorcycle racing rarely gets a mention unless someone is killed.

I agree. I mean we have the current World Speedway Champion here too, but I bet the average Aussie wouldn’t know a thing about him.
