“Possess it of you can,” goes the rest of the rhyme. I’m in the position where I’m going to have to be patient even though I don’t want to be!
It seems that nearly all the parts have arrived in order for my bike to be repaired. The one that Paul is waiting for is the fairing panel, which is on order, but yet to be seen. Since Paul is heading off O/S with his lovely lady for a month’s (well-deserved) holiday at the end of the month, the likelihood of my bike being fixed before they leave is getting slimmer by the day. Should it not get done, then it will be early June before I get it back. That sounds like a long time, but it’s only a bit over 5 weeks so it’s not that bad, really.
Anyway, even if I did get the bike back before then end of the month, I’m still in no shape to ride it so the torture of seeing it in the garage and not being able to ride it would probably be worse. And the temptation to ride it before I’m fit would probably be too much to bear and I don’t want to admit to myself that I could be that silly, anyway.
This weekend sees the Assen round of the WSBK and the good news is that Chris Vermeulen has recovered from keyhole surgery to his knee and has declared himself fit to race. The Assen circuit, emasculated in the name of safety a few years ago, has now been extended again to make it faster and more flowing (they should have just left it alone to start with) and it’s always a favourite of the riders and spectators. Vermeulen has said all along not to expect too much of him this year as the Kawasaki has struggled in its present iteration to make any headway in any racing series (except, perhaps Irish road racing where Ryan Farquhar won all 8 races at the Oliver’s Mount circuit at Scarborough (GB) last weekend.) The factory has already said that there will be a completely new ZX-10R for 2011 and that this year is merely a development year towards that goal.
Despite his “against the clock” win at Valencia a couple of weekends ago, Haga has struggled this season and the Ducati team looks far from championship material at the moment. It looks to me like they are missing Tardozzi far more than what they want to admit.
Check your local TV guide for broadcast times. My TV guide says that the race won’t be broadcast until 0700 Monday morning on 501 with a re-broadcast at 1530 on the same channel, same day. Good thing that Monday is a holiday, eh?

When i was recovering from a broken leg [ had a rod inserted in my femur] i used to sneak out for short rides un be known to my wife.I used to bribe the kids to keep quiet..lol.
Silly thing to do but i could not help myself even though the doctor said i can’t ride for a year, the rod was taken out a year later.
Patience is not one of my strong points & having a new 1981 Kawasaki B2 1100FI sitting in the garage was too much temptation.
I know how you would feel mate if your bike was ready to go but your not.
cheers
