As a general rule, I steer clear of self-diagnosis. I figure that, if a doctor has to train for 8 years to get his qualifications, the chances of me fluking what is wrong with me and deciding on the correct course of treatment when I have had none of the above is pretty remote.
However, I was given one of those heat pad things some years ago. You know the things I mean. They’re filled with wheat or something similar and you put them in the microwave and heat them up and then apply to the area of the body that is having a problem.
Nobody has told me that this would be a good treatment for my sore ribs, but I thought, “What the heck, why not give it a try?” Well, it works brilliantly. At night before I go to bed I heat it up, put it on my ribs after I have laid down and it has made a huge difference to my sleep. The last 2 nights I have had up to 4 hours sleep in a session without waking up, which is vastly more than what I have had for ages.
As well as this, one of the members on one of the forums I inhabit suggested that I try Comfrey cream. I looked it up and it sounded interesting. Here’s the quote from Wikipedia…”One of the country names for comfrey was ‘knitbone’, a reminder of its traditional use in healing. Modern science confirms that comfrey can influence the course of bone ailments”
Now, I figure that, it can’t do any harm, so why not try? I can’t report any imporvement as yet, and I expect that any result will be slow, at best, but there seems to be enough evidence out there to suggest that, in the case of my ribs, it could be beneficial. I will keep you informed.
Oh, and on another subject, I have updated the Kenny Blake site with some more photos taken at the HBBB.

Doctors are like any other ‘Tradesmen’ finding a good one is sometimes difficult. My GP is great ,but i had a few hospital docs that i wouldn’t trust to do the right thing.
Didn’t i mention the heat treatment [hot water bottle] glad it works for you as it did for me too.
Sleep well buddy.
