This weekend sees the opening round of the WSBK at Melbourne’s Phillip Island. While I’m not intending on using this site to chronicle and comment aupon all the racing that is taking place this year, it’s worthy of noting that the long Summer break is over and we’re back into the racing season. With plenty of Aussies to cheer for (at least in the WSBK; sadly none in the WSS), the series should be well worth following.
Supers are so much closer to the bikes that we ride and I thnk we identify with them so much more because of it. And with the prospect of MotoGp going to production-based engines in the near future, this season might be one of our last chances to see WSBK operating like it was intended to; who knows how the battle between the two entities will play out?
I was hoping to go to PI this year, but, with planning for my big trip progressing, it’s prudent to stay home, save the cash and lash out in June.
In the mean time, even though he’s not riding a Honda, Go, Chris Vermeulen!
There’s always next year.
