That was a great read about how it was done in the ‘good old days’
Having owned a couple of Z1’s i knew all about the alternator covers wearing through in race conditions ,you had to be mad to scrape the cover on the road..lol.
So you own a Z1 to be restored, that would be a great project as you said when you have the funds & time.
When you get a chance post up some pics of the bike bits & all.

Yes, I should take some photos of it “as is” shouldn’t I? It’s looking more and more like the bike is going to be my “retirement” project. Having the legendary Chris Dowde just working around the corner from me will probably be a big help when that time comes too. Still can’t believe the nutters rode the bike in racing trim on the Hume Highway, though…crazy.
