The tyres (no, damn you, auto-correct, I will NOT call them “tires”) on the VFR are what was on it when I bought it over a year ago which tells you that I haven’t ridden it much, I guess. However, since my brother and I are planning a little mini-tour later this month, I decided that I’d better do something about it.
Sadly, the budget doesn’t stretch to the latest and greatest as it used to do so I was very grateful when (coincidentally) an old CRRC buddy on Facebook advertised a set of slightly used Pirelli Diablos at a very much reduced price. If I wanted them (I did) I would need to go to Canberra and get them (I did)
Even with the added fuel cost factored in it was still a really good deal. Yes, they ain’t touring tyres but they are tyres and they will do the job. The slight catch that the rear is a 180 when the 750 uses a 170 isn’t really a problem. I have run 180’s on the rear of 4th Gens before and the only difference appears to be a slightly slower “turn in). Since I won’t be exploring the limits (or anything remotely close to it), this is a feature that will not concern me.
So I am just about ready, the road beckons.
Happy New Year to all my readers and friends. I hope that 2015 is even better than this year has been and is filled with all the pleasures that you deserve.
