I copped a lot of stick from well-meaning friends for my Putty Ride last week. Yes, it IS Winter and, yes, it was cold, but it wasn’t THAT cold and the ride was eminently doable as proved by the fact that we did it.
BUT, tomorrow, Sunday 21st July is going to be the day of the annual Netrider Brass Monkey Ride. In previous years I have attended as it involves a ride to Oberon, lunch at the Royal Hotel and a ride home again. Oberon is chosen because there are some great roads around there and because it is known to be one of the coldest towns in NSW. Indeed, the town has already received a good dose of snow this winter.
But, on checking the BOM web site and receiving info (above) from several friends, I can tell you that I will NOT be attending the Brass Monkey Ride tomorrow. Here is the detailed forecast for Oberon tomorrow.
Overnight temperature tonight will be 0 degrees and the maximum tomorrow is expected to be 6 degrees. At present (2200 Saturday night) the temperature is 6.6 degrees with the ambient including wind chill being -2.2 degrees. Both showers and snow are predicted along with damaging winds.
As I said in my title, I’m mad…..but I’m not THAT mad. 🙂
