I know there are things like Christmas and holidays and stuff like that that should be exciting me most, but they are running poor second placing to my excitement about the 2014 AMCN Island Classic at Phillip Island at the end of January. This event, the biggest historic race meeting in the Southern Hemisphere, attracts over 300 riders and over 400 motorcycles (some riders ride more than one bike) and always feature champagne racing. Next year promises to be no different. With the Aussie Team being led by International, Steve Martin (pictured) as well as Robbie Phillis (Mr Superbike) and IoM regulars like Cameron Donald, the locals look to have a lock-out on the teams trophy already.
However they will face stern opposition from a Team GB side that will feature, for the first time, IoM legend, John McGuinness (McPint) as well as their usuals. Throw in a strong team from across the Tasman and a team from the USA who will have profited immensely from their first trip in 2013 and the recipe is just too delicious to resist.
I’m planning on being there, of course, but also hopeful of taking the voice recorder with me and doing some more interviews for MotoPod, so fingers crossed.
If you love your motorcycle racing, then you owe it to yourself to be there.
