….and, as usual, the rumours are flowing freely. Valentino Rossi to retire, and Crutchlow’s place at Tech III to be taken by Bradely Smith….Nurburgring has been sold and will be bulldozed for housing…and so it goes on. Gotta love it.
However, of more importance is the fact that the season starts in proper this month. MotoGp and WSBK. It seems like so long since PI. BSB also starts too, I think. The off season is so “off”, isn’t it?
It’s going to be a busy couple of weeks for me too. Last Saturday night I had the first meeting for 6 weeks at Nowra Speedway. Next Saturday is the second part of the double-header with the NSW Speedcar Championship which will be a hoot. Then, on the Sunday morning, I will be getting up early to head to Canberra to commentate the day meeting for the ACT Speedway Club.
Oh, and, speaking of the speedway, a little story. On the final stage of my trip home from the speedway on Saturday night, I was just heading down the hill past the old Woolshed and a car appeared from nowhere and flew past me at some ridiculous speed. No surprise, it was a Skyline. I was just thinking to myself, “Man, you are three times the fool doing that on a DD weekend,” when another car also appeared behind me and pulled out and passed at warp speed as well. No sooner had I thought, “These guys are stupid racing on a DD weekend,” when I looked right and it was a Highway Patrol car. Flashing headlights, red and blue lights, pull over, son….I’d love to have been a fly on the wall to hear the conversation. 🙂 No sympathy from me, that’s for sure.
The Shadowfax is home at my place, finally. I just have to get my calipers fitted to replace the borrowed ones and get a tailpipe made to resemble the original one and we’ll be done. A little while at my place to admire and enjoy and then it will be heading up to the National Motorcycle Museum at Nabiac on the north coast of NSW where it will go on semi-permanent display along with the hundreds of important and valuable machinery that Brian and Margie have there. I figure that many more people will be able to see and enjoy it there than can do if it’s locked away in my garage and it will get the best of care as well.
Well, it’s a holiday Monday so, get out there and enjoy it. It’s raining here so that limits me a bit but, never mind.
