Despite being roundly scorned by several “experts” when I suggested that Rossi would return to Yamaha with a pay cut and the #2 status in the team, my prediction has been completely confirmed.
I predict that he will soon return to the pointy end and that he will win some more races, though probably not at the expense of Lorenzo who Lin Jarvis makes very clear in the article, Rossi will be expected to support in his 2013 title bid. Will Rossi win another title? No, I think that that is a bridge too far even for the amazing Italian.
In other, less-sure items, the rumour of Andrea Dovizioso ending up at Ducati is gaining strength with Dovi said to have spoken to Ducati management and made clear to them that, should he sign, he expects acknowledgement of rider input and a more rapid development curve to be the #1 focus of the team.
Hey, wouldn’t it be a kicker if he DID sign and Ducati produced a race winner for 2013???
In the penultimate round of the WEC on the weekend, the Cudlin boys and Anthony West all placed well, Damian’s BMW placing 2nd overall. With only one round to go, a title in 2012 would be a bit of a stretch, especially given the outstanding for of the Suzuki team this year.
No significant WSBK rumours over the weekend except for the usual one that surfaces around about this time every season. Ducati to return with a “works” team in 2013. And, as I’ve always said, they don’t NEED to return, they haven’t LEFT.
Finally, a big happy birthday to William (Bill) Goldman, creator of the greatest movie ever made, “The Princess Bride”. Bill turns 81 today.
