Yesterday, after careful perusing of the “What’s on in Sydney” web site, I opted for the “All French Day” at Silverwater Park and the Mustang show at the Museum of Fire at Penrith. A pleasant run up the highway saw me arriving around 1000 at the venue to be greeted by a wonderful sunny morning’s wandering around the park looking at lovely old French cars. Now I must admit here to leaving in a hurry and forgetting my walking stick so this was, in fact, my first outing out of the house without it and I did struggle just a little towards the end.
Nevertheless, I did manage to get around and check out the sights. As a French car tragic (I’ve owned 7 Renaults in my time) this was a real buzz for me. Over the years I have owned 2x 12’s (one was a wagon), 2×16’s, 1x Fuego, 1x 25 and 1x Laguna and I loved them all, though not the servicing costs (which is why I now play it safe with German-sourced Holdens – 1x Vectra, 1x Calibra)
Here’s my album of photos; you don’t need to be a Facebook member to view the album.
All French Day, Silverwater Park, 17th July 2011
So, leaving Silverwater I headed west with every intention of taking in the Mustang show at Penrith. However, it was only once I sat down that I realised just how sore my knee was so I abandoned the plan and settled for a quiet run home down The Oaks Road through Mulgoa (stopping for late lunch at the excellent Peppercorn Restaurant), Silverdale, Picton, Tahmoor, Bargo, Yanderra/Yerrinbool, the Range Road, Tourist Road, TFRPS and home. A great day.
Topped off with the MotoGp broadcast last night. Three thrilling races each of which saw the issue in doubt until nearly the flag (in the case of the 125’s until well AFTER the flag as it turned out)
Last night I had a long email from Kent answering some more of my questions about the Shadowfax Kawasaki and also offering some valuable assistance. Everyone connected with this project is getting very excited about it, as am I. Offers to ride the bike are also multiplying, but I somehow think that Kent might be first! Later today I’ll update the restoration page with more details and lots more pictures.
And in very welcome MotoGp news, Bridgestone has confirmed a change to tyre allocations details from Brno onwards.
