Wednesday was pretty trying. My mum-in-law and I were very close and having sing at her memorial service and deliver the eulogy as well was difficult, balancing on my two crutches for over half an hour.
But nowhere as hard as it was for my wife, of course. She held up brilliantly, as I knew she would, but it’s going to be tough for quite a while, I think.
Then, in the afternoon, it was off to the Fracture Clinic for a full set of X-rays and a consultation with Andrew, my tame orthopaedic guru. And the news is all good. Healing has started to take place and everything is perfectly aligned. In 2 weeks’ time (1 December) the brace comes off my leg, the cast off my arm and rehab can begin. That will be 6 weeks and 2 days since the accident; not quite Rossi-esque, but close.
All paper work in relation to insurance, etc, is now complete and submitted so we sit back now and await the results.
Thank you again for your messages of support and encouragement. I have drawn strength from them and have no doubt that they have aided my recovery thus far.
What to do if I can’t ride any more? Well, I thinjk the answer is going to be one of these.
