This weekend is the race to which the majority of riders look forward. Of course, yesterday’s arctic (antarctic?) conditions didn’t exactly please everyone, superbikeplanet opening their page this morning with the famous quote by Barry Sheene, “Welcome to Phillip Island, gateway to hypothermia”
Today’s qualifying took place in slightly better conditions and went pretty much according to script, except for Valentino Rossi only managing 8th on the grid. Never mind, he came from 11th to win last weekend, so.. Marc Marquez is over half a second faster than the rest in the 125’s (which is, like, an eternity in this class) and should pretty much stitch up the title this weekend. With the Moto2 and MotoGP titles already decided, Marquez needs to win to make it a Spanish trifecta in the Grand Prix classes.
Direct telecast on OneHD tomorrow from 1230.
Phillip Island does come with its own set of challenges and not all of them relate to the track.
Warm the set and cool the tinnies.
