After starting the 2010 WSBK season with high hopes, Australia’s Broc Parkes has had a dreadful season, riding for the Italian Echo CRS team on the Honda 1000. Another under-funded team has been stifled by lack of money which leads to lack of development which then leads to lack of results. So, late last week, Broc and the team agreed to part company. Since leaving the “works” Yamaha Supersport team a few years ago, Broc has struggled to find a home in WSBK and this further disappointment is sure to rankle with the talented Aussie. Echo is promoting former 125cc and 250cc GP rider (and current Supersport rider with the same team), Fabrizio Lai, to take Broc’s place.
However, as the saying goes, when one door closes, another one opens, and, news today that Broc has been signed by the official Kawasaki Supersport team to replace the still-injured Joan Lascorz for the last 3 races of the WSS season. This could be just the boost that Broc needs at “contract” time in the season, to stitch up a better ride for 2011. Let’s hope so.

In sad news overnight, the second day of racing at the Manx Grand Prix (the amateur version of the IoM TT), was abandoned when two riders died in separate accidents.
