Team Green released a very nicely-produced video of Tom Sykes’s test of the new ZX10 at Autopolis. It certainly sounds the goods, with a really “gruff” exhaust note. And, in other Green news, the WSBK team has drafted in Northern Ireland rider Ian Lowry, for the next round of the championship at Nurburgring. This will be his frst WSBK ride though, of course, he has had success in the BSB and in the Northern Ireland road racing series.
And, in an attempt to solve on-going front end problems, the Ducati MotoGP team will be trialling a new set of front forks for Casey Stoner and Nicky Hayden this weekend at Indianaolis. Despite a string of podium finishes of late, Casey hasn’t had a win since Malaysia last year and it has all stemmed (sorry about that) from a lack of front end feel. Let’s hope that Casey can get back up onto the top step this weekend.
And here’s some MotoGP trivia for you.
“Jorge Lorenzo has joined GP legends Giacomo Agostini and Mick Doohan by becoming the third rider in the 62-year history of Grand Prix racing to finish either first or second at the opening 10 premier-class GP races of the year.
With 33 Grand Prix victories across all three classes since he started racing, Lorenzo now has the greatest number of premier-class wins ever achieved by a Spanish rider in a single season, taking the record from former Repsol Honda man Alex Criville. Criville won six GPs on his way to taking the 1999 500cc title.”
