MotoGP gets back into gear this weekend after their mid-season, Summer break. It will be 125’s (and the announcement of their replacement), Moto2 (without Team Scot – see below) and MotoGP, with Lornzo defending a healthy 72 point lead for the second half of the year.
This weekend should also see the announcement of Valentino Rossi’s 2011 and beyond plans (Ducati) and should also see the silly season hot up again. Latest rumour is that Loris Capirossi is out of Suzuki at the end of the year( shouldn’t have gone there to start with) and heading to Pramac Ducati, most likely replacing Mika Kallio whose MotoGP career seems to have plateaued or hit the wall depending on who you believe. I’m not convinced about this move. Capirex had several seasons on Ducati “works” before and couldn’t get it to work, his chances on a satellite bike seem to be even less. I sincerely like Loris, but, in my opinion, he should take the Lira and retire and leave the vacant MotoGP seats to some young blokes who still have the courage to wring the neck of a 220bhp bike.
This weekend should also see the stunning return to action of Randy de Puniet whose crash and recovery has been well documented here. Let’s hope the Frenchman does well.
Brno is a picturesque circuit as well as being one of the riders’ favourites. The purpose-built track replaces an epic street circuit of the same name that was fast, furious and deadly dangerous.
