crash.net is reporting some very interesting silly season rumours from both classes tonight.
1. Haga in serious discussions with Kawasaki for 2011.
2. Colin Edwards to replace Haga at Ducati in 2011.
3. Fabrizio also unlikely to return to the Xerox team in 2011.
Also confirmed today a MotoGP rumour that I reported a couple of weeks ago. Czech rider, Karel Abraham will compete on a privateer Ducati in MotoGP in 2011. This will mean that Ducati will equal Honda in providing 6 bikes to the grid next year.
Yamaha are sweating on a decision from Rossi by Brno (in 2 weeks time) but Rossi, as always, is playing the waiting game. Yamaha have confirmed, however, that, if Rossi does bail, Spies will take his place. I wonder what the Yamaha team management will make of the abrasive Mrs Spies (Ben’s mother) ??
In the mean time, the mathematicians have been at work regarding Lorenzo’s position in the title chase. “Even if Lorenzo uses all his engines, he can start from pit lane with a ten second penalty and still realistically gain enough points to keep ahead of the field. He just needs to finish 5th in every race even if Dani wins them all.”
Or, as someone put it, “Lorenzo has one hand AND four fingers already wrapped around the trophy.” That’s not to say that it’s not going to be an interesting second half of the season, however.
