Poor Randy de Puniet, after being the star of the last few meetings, he had one last night that he’ll rather forget. An innocent victim of Jorge Lorenzo’s oil spill in Qualifying, he started the race with an already-sore leg. An incident just a few laps in left him in far greater danger and pain after spilling the bike and having Mika Kallio (l) run over his leg while trying to avoid the accident. Aleix Espagaro (r) wasn’t as lucky, t-boning the Honda as it lay in the middle of the track and cannoning in to Alvaro Bautista’s Suzuki (far right), taking them both out of the event. Kallio was to crash himself soon after, no doubt completely shattered by what had happened in this incident.
On a brighter note, some wag posted this this morning. It is reported to be the track map that Nick Harris uses while doing his race commentary at the Sachsenring.
I got a giggle out of this.
