One of the “perks” if you wish, of casual teaching is that you get to run on roads that are a little less inhabited. With everyone back at work, you can go exploring a little and not have to worry so much about traffic, in other words. So, after I have taken care of the chores, I get the chance to ride, neat, huh?
Today I did some maintenance (one of the bolts on the Verntura rack keeps coming undone, so it was Loctited into position) and a general clean-up. The bike hasn’t been touched since coming back from the Oxley last Tuesday so it needed a clean.
Then it was up the Pass for a coffee at the Pie Shop and a quick blast down to Kiama via Jamberoo. Weather was excellent and I got a clear run on both roads; middle of the day always seems to be best on the Pass.
The Kawasaki is at the mechanics for an assessment so I’m hoping to hear soon what needs to be done and how much it will cost. Now that I have the thing, I’m rather anxious to get it on the road.
All of this is great fun, of course, but it doesn’t pay the bills so I’m hoping that some teachers start getting sick pretty soon so I can replenish the bank account after the holidays. 🙂
Oh, and, by the way, congratulations are in order for Australia’s Jason Crump who won his third World Speedway Grand Prix Championship on the weekend. Go, Jason!!
