Before I get to the “meat” of today’s post, just a note that I have published 3 new pages on my web site. They are Chapter 4 of My Motobiography.. Another episode of Pot Luck..
and a wonderful reminisce by the great Joe Eastmure.
One of the benefits of being a school teacher is the time that it gives you to ride. Unlike full-time teachers, who spend all their holidays preparing for next term, my gig as a casual relief teacher means that, when the bell goes at the end of term, I don’t have to think about school until it rings on day 1 of the next term.
So, what do I have planned for the Christmas break? Well, the usual family obligations, of course. In our family, Christmas is very important, as it tends to be in most families that have a Scandinavian connection. But, once the new year has rolled around, it’s going to be time for me to hit the road.
Tentatively I have planned a 6 day tour of Victoria, covering a bit over 3000kms, averaging around 500kms per day. Basically it looks like this.
Day 1. Wollongong to Khancoban via Tathra, Bega, Cooma and the Great Alpine Road.
Day 2. Khancoban to Healesville (Vic) via Mansfied, Whitfield and the Victorian mountain roads.
Day 3. Healesville to Bacchus Marsh with a detour to take in Reefton Spur.
Day 4. Bacchus Marsh to Warrnabool via Hall’s Gap and Dunkeld.
Day 5. Warrnambool to Bombala. Including the Great Ocean Road, via Moe, Walhalla and the Imlay Road.
Day 6. Bombala to Home via Bega and the Princes Highway.
Now that I have a plan, I can’t wait for the time to roll around. I’m going to get a Photobucket account so that I can upload photos and I hope to be able to update this blog each night and keep you informed of the events and sights each day.
Are you jealous yet?
