More than enough reminders in the last couple of weeks about the fragility of life and how we are all getting on. Geoff Sim passed away recently, depriving Wollongong of one of its motorcycling royalty.
Then this week we were shocked to hear of the death of Warren Walker. Warren, one of the original owners of JCW Motorcycles at Yagoona that later morphed into The Helmet Warehouse had been suffering ill-health for some time but died suddenly as a result of an accident at home.

And yesterday the sidecar racing world was saddened by the news that iconic sidecar racer, Chris Vincent, had passed away.
I wonder how many of today’s “stars” will be remembered with the same affection and respect as these guys?
I went for a ride today, that shouldn’t be a surprise but I haven’t been able to ride for quite a few weeks. This has been because of a combination of circumstances, a long run of inclement weather, family responsibilities and recovering from eye surgery but I was finally able to take the VFR for a short bimble. The weather was great and the roads were pretty clear given that it was a Summer Sunday morning.
There is nearly always something neat to see at the Pie Shop and today was no exception. A heavily modified Yamaha RD350B owned by a guy who lives in my own suburb for heaven’s sake.
The weather forecast says it’s going to rain for the rest of the week but I’m hoping for an early ride tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
Aching for the MotoGp season to start..
