I haven’t done much riding lately, the variant of the flu that has laid me low for the last month or so has seen to that. However, I do appear to have inherited a problem that will require some investigation. The last few times I have ridden I have noticed that the front of the fairing and the mirrors appear to be moving much more than what I think they should be. Last Sunday’s brunch ride up to Wingello highlighted this particularly as the roads on the highlands are especially rough at the moment. It appears that the supports for the fairing are either broken or loose as it bounces up and down quite alarmingly. It will require a fairly large tear-down as the 800 is even more enclosed at the front than the 750 was and removal of the fairing is quite a complicated job. It certainly won’t be happening today, however, as the temperature is hovering around the 10 degrees Celsius mark and that’s well and truly enough to keep me inside where it’s warm. 🙂
This weekend I also hope that my repair man will be able to fix the rust in the roof of the Minibago. It failed the registration check a couple of weeks ago and is sitting, unregistered, in the driveway at the moment waiting for Shawn to have some time on a weekend to treat the rust and make it ready for re-inspection. I hope it will be fixed soon as today is the first day of Spring and I’m itching to get back on the road and do some RV’ing.
The internet is abuzz this morning with unconfirmed rumours that Valentino Rossi has suffered a tib/fib break while riding his MX bike. I’m taking it with more than just a grain of salt at the moment as he has pulled an injury stunt once before, coincidentally just before an Italian round of the championship, too. Those of us with long memories will recall his major injury a few years ago and the fact that he didn’t even miss a round despite the severity of the injury. This may yet be another example of his legendary mind games.
The Shadowfax is still languishing under cover while I wait for some finances to fix the damage to the fairing and the tank from some months ago. If any of my readers have a Honda Bol d’Or tacho that they want to get rid of, please let me know. The needle has fallen off the one on the bike and is not repairable.
The fact that I’m not going to work on Rhonnda today doesn’t mean that there aren’t plenty of other chores to do so I’d best get off here and get them done or the day will be gone before I know it. Catch you next time.
