Last Sunday was the CEMCC (Classic and Enthusiasts Motorcycle Club) Annual Show at Engadine in Sydney. The Illawarra branch, of which I used to be a member (more in a minute) holds this show every years and the oldies and goldies come out of the woodwork for the event.
Some years ago I was a member of CEMCC, as I said and I found their meetings enjoyable, the information shared invaluable and the depth of knowledge about their chosen subject astonishing. The only problem was that, at the time, the focus of the club was very much on the immediate pre and post WWII period in terms of the bikes they preferred. Given the age and the demographic of the club members that is probably not surprising, but I was a little put off by the fact that my interest in 70’s bikes didn’t seem to be anyone else’s interest except mine, so I let my membership lapse.
Fast forward to last Sunday and it seems like the old guard is being dragged ahead a few decades. The predominant type of bike at the show was a 60’s-70’s bike with even a few newer than that. And examples of the much earlier models were rather more thin on the ground than I expected. Maybe it’s time to renew my membership.
Anyway, rather than post a hundred or so photos, below is the link to my Facebook album. You do not need to be a member of Facebook to view it.
In other news, the Minbago is packed ready to head north this weekend for the Shannons Australian Historic Motorcycle Racing Championships. Having picked up the rejuvenated Shadowfax from the Fourth Dimension on Sunday, it is also loaded up in the hope that I may just be able to convince the organisers to let me have a demo run on it at some stage on the weekend.
Not a bad bike transporter, eh?
Whilst at Lakeside I hope to catch up with many old friends, some of whom I haven’t seen for thirty or more years; it should be fantastic.
And, while on the subject of fantastic, check out my latest album of pictures of the Gold Wing.
Catch you from the track.

Yes, mate, it sure has. Even more so now that I have just taken the Shadowfax to Lakeside and back in it with no dramas at all.
