Long-term lifers will know that I am a bit of a sucker for gadgets, especially ones that show some innovation and even more especially those that actually work. Thanks to Chris Mundy, who pointed this one out to me, here’s one that definitely warrants some more examination. Basically it is a convex mirror that mounts on the steering stem of the bike (or onto the glass of the fairing if you wish) and effectively covers the usual blind spots about which we constantly complain. Given that the mirrors on most motorcycles these days only really give you a good view of your armpits, any device that can fill in the spots that the mirrors miss gets my vote. It’s a bit hard to understand how it works from just a still photograph so follow the link below to the Youtube clip and it will become clearer (sorry about that)

I am sure that there will be as many people in the motorcycling fraternity who will find fault with this idea as there are who will gleefully embrace it. But, if it even saves one life, then I think it might be worth it.
Watch the video ((there are lots of others on Youtube as well) and make up your own mind.
