I profess to knowing next to nothing about the world of high finance, so, even though rumours about a possible buy-out of Ducati have been circulating for some time, I really haven’t taken too much notice of it.
And here I must make a confession. I don’t really like Ducatis. The whole Ducati ethos has always been far too elitist for my liking so when the media start salivating about some new offering from Bologna, I tend not to get too excited.
But it seems that we are fated to keep hearing about them, whether it be their dismal MotoGp effort, their organiser-sanctioned domination of WSBK or, it now appears, the financial dealings of the movers and shakers who speak in billions.
We are being told that the VW/Audi is about to clinch a deal that will see it acquire a controlling interest in Ducati. Apparently Ducati is hemorrhaging money through its MotoGp effort so much that they need someone to bail them out!
Tomorrow (18th) is supposed to be the date, so watch out for an announcement.
Looking at the Dashboard I note that this posting will be the 999th posting since I started this blog in July 2008, so I guess I’d better think of something a bit special for my next posting. That’s putting me under pressure, isn’t it?
