It’s been raining on and off in Estoril, Portugal, since the teams arrived there on Thursday and, right on cue, just as last night’s qualifying was due to start, it hosed down again. The session was cancelled and the grid will be determined by a combination of times from the 3 practice sessions. Lorenzo will be on pole again. Checa is struggling, some 5 seconds off the pace. Hopefully he’ll do better in th dry. Both injured riders, Pedrosa and Capirossi ARE riding but are also OTP.
125 and Moto2 qualifying was also washed out, so Bradley Smith has pole for the tiddlers, with championship leader, Marc Marquez, starting out of 11th, some 5 seconds off pole on aggregate times!!
Moto2 champ, Tony Elias, will start from 3rd in his race, but the huge news in Moto2 is that WSS champ, Kenan Sofoglu, having a guest ride in the Technomag team, will start from 4th in his first ride in this category!!!! Fast Italian, Andrea Ianonne, obviously doesn’t like wet. He’ll start from 35th position!
