“BMW has won the FIM Superstock 1000 title at its first attempt after Ayrton Badovini completed his seventh victory in seven races at Silverstone.
Badovini has been the dominant force on his return to the Superstock series this year, the former Kawasaki WSBK rider turning the BMW S1000RR into a race winner from the off at Portimao.
Further victories followed at Valencia, Assen, Monza, Misano and Brno, ensuring his seventh victory at Silverstone puts him out of reach of his rivals with three rounds remaining.
A significant success for BMW in what remains only its second season in road racing as a whole, Badovini was thrilled to be crowned champion.
“[The title] It means everything to me. In the past I have raced in this series and had a lot of difficulties with one thing and another, but now I feel like we have pieced the perfect season together and it feels amazing. I just want to say thank you to everyone who has supported me over the year and to those who have believed and put faith in my ability to achieve.”
Congratulations, Ayrton. Now, let’s see them translate that form into the big arena!!
