The comments about small grids by Poncheral are what all commentators are remarking upon at the moment. 15 bikes at Silverstone, for example, breaches the FIM’s own rules about minimum grid loading for a MotoGP race.

Phil,
I’m speechless 🙂
I see that they are only having the same number of hours testing, but, its broken down into the four off 45 minute sessions.
Interesting to see what sort of bikes are on the grid for the 1,000 cc.
Obviously, no prototypes at this stage.

Correct. I can’t see how they are going to be able to do it without having both the production-based engines and the prototypes. And, that means that there is going to be a huge performace disparity, so I’m flummoxed as to how they can make it work. They can’t really make the proddy-based engines any more powerful, they’re prtty much maxxed-out in WSBK trim anyway, so do they detune the prototypes? If they do, that flies completely in the face of what the formula is all about. Interesting times.
