This weekend’s Britsih Grand Prix marks the first Grand prix since 1996 that will be without the presence of Valentino Rossi. Despite what almost everyone thinks, I believe that attendance will be similar and that interest in the event will not be significantly reduced. The Poms love their racing and will queue up to watch almost anything (and in all manner of appalling English weather into the bargain).
The other interesting thing will be the change from the usual Donington Park to Silverstone. The track has been considerably modified to accommodate the bikes and the organisers promise that they will love it, but I have my doubts. Silverstone, built on the location of an old WWII aerodrome, is flat, dull and uninteresting, and can never duplicate the excitement that the elevation changes and variety that Donington offered.
Predictions? Could be interesting as a race.
One HD’s schedule is a bit weird. The Moto2 race will be shown at 2000 hours, the MotoGp race at 2130 and the 125cc race at 2330.
