Actually, to be more precise, we’re off. Yes, in a few hours we fly out to go and visit our daughter and son-in-law and our three wonderful grandsons in San Diego, California.
The family left here about 15 months ago with Natalie wishing to further her career as a professional ventriloquist in the United States. It’s been a pretty tough gig trying to make a name in a foreign country but it’s starting to pay off so she’s not under quite as much pressure as she has been.
Of course we have missed them terribly and, while the internet is helpful, there is nothing like personal contact so we are really looking forward to seeing them. Packing is done, paperwork is all in order and seats allocated (fortunately that will allow me a bit more leg room for obvious reasons)
As well as visiting the rellies we plan to do the tourist thing, San Diego Zoo is supposed to be one of the best in the world and I plan to try and catch up with some of my American contacts from Facebook and also from historic bike racing. Somewhere in there will be a trip to Argyle, in Texas, to see my good friend Ottis Lance who is still trying to recuperate from his terrible accident last October.
We plan to spend a month in the US before returning at the end of August. Our son is babysitting the house in our absence and caring for our two hysterical cats and he is really looking forward to it.
I will be on the internet over there and plan to keep you updated with our comings and goings with particular emphasis on the motorcycling and motorcycle racing scene. I have even scheduled a meet-up with Jim Race from motopodcast, so look out for a face-to-face podcast in the near future.
Be nice to each other while I am away and my next blog entry will be coming to you from the other side of the planet, sheesh, that seems so weird.
