AMCN is reporting that the world press launch of the Aprilia RSV4R at Mugello on the 28th October was abandoned after five, yes, you read it, FIVE of the new Italian stallions blew up, lunching their con-rods while being sampled by the assembled press corps.
Does this qualify for the “Boy was My Face Red” award of the year for 2009??
Now to be fair, this was the launch of the lower-spec “R” model and no such issues have cursed the “Factory” model, either in racing or on the road, but it still makes you worry just a bit, doesn’t it?

If just the one motor blew you would think it’s just bad luck…but all 5 bikes would make me think twice about buying one. Not that i would ofcoarse as by the look of it [& it does look nice] you need to be a midget to fit on it.Even Max Biaggi looks big on the race version & hes only about 60kgs.
cheers

Yeah, I know what you mean. I saw one today for the first time and it’s TINY!!! They reckon even tall people can fit and be comfortable, but the guy who owned it said that 40 minutes is the longest he has lasted before having to get off and rest!!
